More reliable and energy-efficient bearings through optimised lubrication
Van de Wiele has its own test bench on which it is currently performing tests to increase the reliability and energy-efficiency of bearings by optimising their lubrication. On this test bench, some results will be used that Flanders Make already validated in a test set-up. These include, among others, guidelines for setting the optimal flow rate for oil circulation in view of maximum reliability and energy-efficiency. Van de Wiele also applies our computing tool to assess in the design phase whether the separating oil film thickness between rollers and rings is sufficiently large to warrant the useful lifespan of a vibrating bearing. The company plans to integrate the findings from the test bench measurements in the design process of its weaving machines.
